Dreaven smirked at the girl, clearly feeling the nervouseness he caused her to feel. Indeed, this would hurt her, seeing as he knew what Pain was doing. It would make sense to bring him out with hurting her. He watched, waiting for a reply from Pain, as to what his answer was.

It was late, and the sun was just begining to set. The sky was stained a blood red.
...Avris.
Against the darkening sky, a black smudge was bairly dissernable from the shadows on the clouds.
Avris...
His wings were spread out wide, and the flock flew beside him. The night air blew cool through his hair. His lips twisted up slightly, in what might be considered a smile. She loved it when he smiled. Seeing him happy was more than enough to fill her heart with a years worth of joy.
Avris, look out!
The sharp bang of a gun cut through the twilight silence, and through his chest. She could do nothing but watch as he fell from the sky, landing in a crumpled heap in the marshes below. She didn't know how to use her powers well enough to heal him yet. "Don't worry," he told her, sitting up and slowly pulling himself to his feet. "It's not as bad as it looks..." He hated to make her worry, but she had a reason to this time. The wound may not have been too serious, but he was loosing blood, and at too fast a rate. As he tried to walk, he fell and passed out. She was forced to take his place.
Avris, no!
The hunters came up, looking for their kill. It was a big one, the saw. Quite a brag for the team. "Oy! What's this?" The hunter wispered to his buddy. Before them, stood a girl with wings the color of ivory. "It's an angel... You've shot an angel!" "Not an angel," the hunter said cruely. "The biggest bird game there is..." With a monster's grin, he tossed the net.
Help me! Help me, Avris!
She struggeled in the net, but only got tangeled deeper. The hunter hit her over the head with the butt of his gun, and dragged her to the truck.
...why?
She woke up in a cage with thick iorn bars, and chains binding her arms and legs and even her wings. She ached from numerous cuts and bruises from her rough treatment. She hadn't eaten in days. The hunters had sold her to a freak show.
Why did you leave me?
Tears streaked through the dirt on her face. Strangers laughed and jeered at her, knowing she was not an angel, but just deformed. For the first time, she heard the word "Infectee", one of the many scornful taunts thrown at her from the cruel croud. She couldn't reach her wings, she couldn't heal herself. She could die in these chains.
Why did you abandon me into the hands of these monsters?![/i]
Avris felt the pain she had endured those nights, when he was too afraid to save her. He felt all of the dark memories.
Why are you remembering this?! Why now? He demanded, desperatly wishing he could hide from it, like he had before. Is it because you think I've abandoned you? Is it?!
Avris didn't answer, but he still felt the memories rushing through her head. WHAT DO YOU WANT, AVIGNON?
I thought you were gone... came the soft call of her voice. She sounded pained. Who was hurting her? Surely the memories couldn't cause her this much pain. It had to be someone on the outside.
Avignon, I'm right here! I swear I am. I told you I'd always be there when you needed me, and I am! I'm right here, I swear it! Just tell me who's doing this to you, and I'll kill them. I'll destroy them for you.
With the rush of black wings, Avris appeared, breaking the connection between Pain and Avignon. Before the transformation was even completed, he was on his feet.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" He shouted in near blind rage, pulling out sharp, ebony feather from his wings. "I'LL KILL YOU FOR HURTING HER!" He lunged at Pain, feathers now sword length, and just as deadly.

Pain grinned and easily avoided Avris. Side stepping the swords he ended up behind him. As the vampires around jumped to action Pain smiled. Avris would die in a second but that would be bad. "HOLD!! This is not your fight."

Dreaven smiled, as the girl seemed to twinge in pain, and saw Avris spring forward. So, that was what Pain was trying to get to come forth from the girl. As the being lunged Dreaven knew that Pain would avoid the blow, and watched as the other vampires tried to jump in, though, he also heard Pain say not to jump in... He raised his hand, and nodded, looking back at the newly awakened enemy. This could be fun...

Avris looked around, his heart beating faster. What was going on? What had happened when he'd left Avignon? How could he have been so stupid? How could he have left her on her own like that?! He mentally cursed Pain, and every other vampire. "What do you want with me?" There were too many of them around, he'd never be able to fight them of. He had only two choices: conform, or flight.

"I wish I could answer you, Avris, was it?" Dreaven responded, walking over to place a hand on Pain's shoulder. "However, he seems to want to keep that under wraps... You seem like one of the smarter young ones, and I have a proposition.... why don't you join us? Surely, you cannot kill all of us." he siad, shrugging.

Pain suppresed a shudder, Dreaven was the only thing in the world that scared him. He grinned at Avris his fangs glittering. "Apparently you just left your sister in her moment of need. She made a decision by herself, and it ended you up her. Along with Ivy." His eyes glittered, "Such a lovely girl."

Trying to pin this on me? Like hell. You would have done whatever you'd wanted anyways... Avris bit back his comments, but couldn't help but to say, "So my 'choices' are: Become a vampire or die?" He didn't know why he'd bothered asking. He knew the answer.
"What will happen to Avignon?" They shared the same body, but they were two different people. Did the vampires even want Avignon, or just him? It was impossible to split them, but these vampires had some nasty tricks up their sleaves. He wouldn't have been supprised to know they had some horrible things instore for them both.
"And what will happen to me?" He was scared. He was absolutly terrified. There was no way out of this. This was the end. They were finally going to be permenantly captured. Birds in a cage...

Pain laughed, his power growing as he absorbed Avris's fear. "Did I say anything about killing you?" This was very fun, he hadn't been so amused in a while. He looked at Dreaven. "Do you have any ideas for what to do?"

d**n it... Think, Avris! He mentally shouted at himself. Stop making stupid mistakes! What do you know about these... He couldn't think of a word strong enough to discribe his hatred of them at this point. Sharp daggers of pain and anger travled through his wings, reminding him of the cage they'd fallen in.

"Dear Pain, please, tell me why you broguth this troubled young man here.." Dreaven said, in a little firmer tone, though, not in a scolding way. "On second thought, don't worry about it...." He looked at Avris. "Well, you don't have to become one of us... yes, you will have to join us, however, we'll have to take 'extreme' measures if you even think about teling your Mistress of this place..." And I will know...[/color] he added in the man's mind.

"What 'Mistress'?" Avris asked. "You can't mean Avignon. I can't keep things from her. It's not possible. We're the same person, in a way."

His mind clear from all the fear he was absorbing Pain smiled widely. "it seems as though your sister, though sometimes impulsive is the smarter of you two." Waving his hand a image of Ivy appeared next to Avris. Her eyes were closed, as if she was sleeping"Such a pretty young thing, your sister seems to feel responsilbe for her."

"What's your point?" he asked, a bead of sweat trailing down his face. His hands gripped hard into the feather-swords still at his sides, but he was careful not to cut himself. Like I need any more problems...

Pain shook his head and smiled michevioulsy. "Nothing, she would just be crushed if anything happend to her."
