[glow=White,2,300]"The girl? Let's just call her a . . . friend, shall we? She's not important. What is important is how we put an end to this. That is, if we can put an end to this. I'm not sure it's even within our powers," he quickly tried to change the subject. "Even if we could, how would we turn the infectees back? That is, taking for granted, they WANT to be turned back. Would you give up your powers to be a human again?"[/b][/glow]

Feuer shook his head. "I would not wish to become human again." He walked over to the cot where Jade still lay. "The Moonlighters and Kitrals beleive they are a higher species. The only ones who would really want to be human again would be the loners in the world."

[glow=white,2,300]The fool actually let it go, the shadow thought, amazed. "Well, that said, I think it's quite pointless to get the humans to try to accept us. You know what they're like. You were human once too." May I stress that "you"? it thought sarcastically. "And given that point, maybe the Moonlighters arn't as stupid as we're all led on to think. What's this world going to come down to in the end? We can't ever live in co-existance, not for hundredss of years, at any rate. And who knows if we infectees will even be around that long? Sure, some of us might be graced - or cursed, how ever you'd like to see it - with a life that long. But will there be a next generation of infectees? Not humans mutated with a new round of bio bombs, but children of infectees?"
It paused, thinking of the posibilities. The children of the Infected...
"Have you ever heard of an infectee's child? Is that even possible?[/glow]

Feuer stroked Jade's hair, he could sense her life coming back, very slowly. He turned to Tribe, or whatever it was. "It is possible that children born of Infectees would have abilities. SInce it was our DNA that was changed it could affect further generation."
HE walked towards her. "I have yet to have heard of a child like that, but they will surely appear soon."
I have never thought of a child. Would I wish to create a child who would be a freak."
"Now about Tribe, is she safe?" He could really care less about Tribe but if Jasmine found out, then well, he was toast.

[glow=white,2,300]Like they always did when hit by strong emotions, the shadow's pupils deformed into sharp, diamond shapes inside it's dark gray irises. How did he...?
"What do you mean? I'm just fine," it tried to manage a smile, but it's muscles were clenched tight. All it managed was a crooked grin. He can't know! Why would he have spoken so freely if he knew who I was?[/glow]

"Sure she is." Feuer placed himself infront of the door, listening for Jasmine. "You haven't fooled me. Tribe wouldn't give a d**n about changing infectees back. She might, but wouldn't talk freely about it." His eyes blazed, fire was springing from his hands. Not hot enough to burn but enough to show.

[glow=white,2,300]The shadow gritted his teeth, hissing softly. This guy... It watched the fires filckering in Feuer's hands.
"Aha..." it laughed lightly, smiling. It's laugh was cold, and dark. "Ahahaha! Well, I suppose I should congradulate you on figuring me out!" The shadow's voice had become deeper, more like a man's voice, more like it's own voice.
"So, what do you plan to do now, Feuer?"
A dark aura began to pulse outward from the shadow, darkening the room. Tribe's form twisted and became distorted in the tainted light, as a new figure pushed to the surface.
"Do you even know who I am? What I'm here for?"
Ebony hair replaced the coaly gray, thick and dark as midnight. Her lips lost their pink sheen and began to darken. Long black nails forced themselves out of her elongating fingers. Her pale skin turned black as soot as strange, alabaster markings began to weave over the marred flesh, slowly mounting in pace untill they spun almost a frantic dance over the skin.
Black lips parted in a sideways grin to reveal ivory teeth, "I'll give you a hint."
Tribe's form faded completely, revealing a new figure, dressed in a pair of dark pants and shoes, with a black, button-up dress shirt, the sleaves left undone. His jet black hair was swept back, as if by the wind, eliminating both bangs and a part as it fell losely behind his head. The white markings slowed their manic action, thinning, untill they disapeared completely, leaving his dark skin unflawed.
He moved closer to Feuer, his ebony hands parting the air between them in a simple guesture.
"I'm not an infectee. And I'm here for someone..."[/glow][/b]

Feuer acted on instinct. Flames covered the walls, not burning but containing. "Who do you want?"He couldn't think of anyone that this shadow may possibly want. He could call for Jasmine but she might not come in time.

[glow=white,2,300]"Don't get so . . . anxious," The shadow raised his hands in mock defence against the"threatening" flames. "I'm not a spy. Nor am I connected to the man who harmed Jade."
The shadow watched Feuer, wondering if he saw it. Covering the rooms with flame may just not have been his best choice. Had he never seen the ways the shadows danced around the flames?
"If you don't believe me, just think for a moment: Why would I ask you about your connections with a man who you obviously have a past with, if I was working for that very man?" The shadow was nearly distracted by the way the flickering light reflected off his skin. Oh, how he'd missed the sight of his own form! The feel of having his own body... he'd been fused with the girl for too long. "As for who I want..."
A devilish grin forced the corners of his lips up. Shadowy power pushed it's way through his veins, and outward. He could feel his own shadow flickering to be free, to dance in the firey lights. But he forced it down. No need to scare the man even more. He might make things messy... Not for the shadow, of course, but for Feuer. How could he guarentee the foolish man's safty if he decided to attack?
"Why jump right into business? It would be much more polite for me to introduce myself first." The shadow bowed lightly. Though a seemingly respectful guesture, it made Pain feel as if he was being mocked. "My name is [glow=Black,2,300]Malachi.[/glow]"[/glow][/b] Malachi's dark eyes held Feuer's in a tight gaze, a threatening gaze, one might say. Others might say that was just how he always looked... that is, if any others had lived to see him and tell about it.
"Ah, it's wonderful to hear my own name again. Not even the girl, or either of those brats...]" Malachi practically growled that final word, his voice hissing with unrestrained malice. But as he continued, he returned to his civil tone. "...know my name. There's nothing akin to being called by your name. It shows that you recognize me, that all of you recognize me, as an existance and not just a beast, like with that other name... no title she bequeathed me with."
The shadow trailed off thoughtfully, seemingly unaware that he had Feuer in a state of anxiety, what with the walls of flames and all. But he came back to the point as his eyes refocused on the man across from him. "Ah, that's right... I recall you asking about Cristina? Let's move the conversation to her, shall we?"
His perpetual grin faded, "She's not doing quite so well, actually. She's had a... breakdown, more or less." He did not wait for the full affect of his words to sink in. "As you very well do NOT know, the girl is in no condition for any stress. Her mind has been unstable for some time now, trust these words from someone who's seen inside her head. Short and long of it, her human emotions have become her downfall..." His features darkened further to an outright grimace. "Guilt, and self-loathing for what she is, I think, are the main causes. Though I, for the life of me, can not understand why." Malachi's words were laced with venemous malice. "If nothing is done to stop her progression, she will destroy herself..."
His grin reapeared. "Now, we get to the "who I want" part, that you're so curious to know. As you may have already have guessed, I want Cristina. I don't plan to take her from you... as long as you don't plan to take her from me. Do you understand? I can help her in ways none of you could even hope to. I'm the only glimmering light of hope that she has of pulling through this. So I'm asking you to let me stay here..." He laughed his dark little laugh. "Not that I plan to let you stop me no matter what I chose."
Malachi could not resist. He had been threatened, after all... He had a reson to retaliate.
Malachi's grin turned dark as the strange lighting flicked across his black skin. He slowly raised his arms, untill they stood ajacent from his body, his hands dangeling limp.
Then, with a sharp flick of each wrist, he moved. Though "moved" is not an accurate discription of Malachi's motions at that point. He was there one moment, then he was gone, flickering around the room like a shadow from a fire light. Sometimes, there was more than one of him, and in different sizes. His cold laughter echoed off the walls as Feuer tried to keep an eye on him.
Suddenly, he was gone. And the room was silent. Even the crackeling of the fire had quieted, untill Feuer could hear nothing but his own heartbeat in his ears.
Feuer could feel a pressure on his chest, right above his heart, to be precise. His heart beat speed up, and Malachi could feel it under his fingers, though he was nowhere to be seen. Malachi was in the shadow world, a mirrored world of this own, where he could not be touched, but could touch others through their shadows. The world where Cristina had killed for the first time, and numerous times after.
"Thump.... Thump.... Thump...." Malachi mimicked, his hand still over Feuer's heart from within the shadow world. Feuer turned to see his own shadow, with a perfect silhouet of Malachi right beside his. "...just think of it as the assurance that you're alive."
Feuer could do naught but watch and feel as Malachi raised his left hand, a sole finger tracing from the base of his neck, to his chin, and back down, his sharp nail pressing lightly into his skin. But it wasn't untill the hand withdrew that Feuer had a reason to worry. As he watched the shadows, Feuer saw Malachi's finger extend, and sharpen untill it appeared almost knife like. Too knife like, he discovered, and the blade ran across the skin of his neck, the tip slicing through the skin at a small point in the center of his neck. He could feel a drop of blood roll down his skin and skin into the collar of his shirt.
"So, how about it Feuer?" The smile was apparent in his voice. "Or am I too dark for your little party charade?" The blade was still very close to his skin, though not fully on it now. But the threat was real enough.(((I'm becoming a bit of a monolouger, arn't I? Bet you're getting sick of reading all these ultra-long posts!)))

Slowly the flames around the room died down. Feuer saw that he had little choice, what was going to stop this Malachi character from killing him and killing Jade. He would not die knowing that he had been the reason of that. "Well, your a bastard, has anyone ever told you that?" The voice was full of hatred.

"Well, this is the first time you've called me that. Let's not worry about the others," He appeared before Feuer. "They're too numerous to count."
He pulled back a few steps, and extended a hand, "How about a truce?" He had on his manic grin again.

"I thought I made my motives clear, I'm not here to cause any harm," he said, shaking Feuer's hand warmly. Not that it won't be an added bonus when I stir up some trouble, anyways. he inwardly added. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to meet Jasmine. I've only seen her... from a distance so far. And I've got a few hours left before I've overstayed my welcome."

There was a voice from behind them. "I'll go get her." Jade sat up on the cot and shook her head. "What have you done Feuer?" Before he could answer she was gone in a poof of smoke.
"d**n, not she's mad at me." Feuer's hand was coverd in fire again, as it always did when he was agitated.

"You can blame that on me, if you wish," he said, laughing slightly. "I doubt it'd get you out of your girl's black book, though."
